Palmetto Transgender Association was first conceived after the 2010 Transgender Day of Remembrance as a organization to help connect the existing transgender groups in South Carolina, assist in their functioning and to help form support in areas where it hadn't existed previously. There was also a need to share informational resources about TG service providers in the SC area.
